The Blog That Wasn’t There
July 7th, 2009New Drive the Answer?
My computer is annoying me with its incessant freezes. I don’t know if it’s a software issue or what.
I just checked, and huge hard drives (bigger than the one I have) are very cheap now. I may go buy one, clone my old drive, and see if things improve.
Of course, this may result in days of agony while my computer refuses to boot. We’ll see.
I tried to find a decent hard drive test utility, but it looks like they don’t exist.
I’ll see you if I see you.

Make sure your drives are getting proper airflow and not getting too hot. I was having a real problem with this a while back.

Didn’t you say you were having problems with your processor cooling fan? If so, get that issue fixed first; if your computer won’t boot because the processor is fried, the biggest hard drive in the world isn’t going to help.

Hi Steve,
Looks like I am late to this post, but I have to agree with other posters, Spin Rite is the way to go.
All the best.
