Pointing the Way to Better Online Behavior
January 19th, 2009Religious Cursors
Here is another interesting way to remind yourself to behave while using your computer. It occurred to me last night that surely someone out there had come up with cursors with religious themes. And it turns out they have. You can get an ichthus, a cross, or any of a number of other shapes. You can probably get a star of David; I haven’t checked.
Here’s how it works. You download a file with the extension “cur,” and you put it in your Windows/cursors folder. Then you go to your control panel, click “Mouse,” and use the browsing feature to find and activate the cursor.
Might make it harder for you to be a jerk while you’re online.
Here’s an ichthus cursor you can download: CLICK.

Steve,
.
You could make a logo for your blog indicating “only good behavior tolerated here”. It wouldn’t *have* to be a religiously-derived icon, maybe just an acronym and/or logo. But something that folks who don’t tolerate potty-mouth in their comments can put up.
.
I would recommend the name “Good Web Behavior”…. but the acronym might not be well received.

Just so you know, most of the cursor files you find online are virus laden.

This one survived AVG.

I’ve always liked that you can change your cursor and other windows settings.
However, I stopped because it always caused trouble of some sort. Now it’s been years since I’ve tried it, maybe it all works great now.

My husband said the same thing Chris said about viruses. I DL’d it anyway. No problems so far. I like risk-taking. It’s fun. It’s not going to be so funny if I have to beg him to play tech support because I didn’t listen to him.

The file I got was corrupted and wouldn’t open. I may try again tomorrow if everyone else has survived it. I wanted to send it to my sister. She would love it.
