Watchmen was my only exposure to the name Ozymandias until I read this post, looked at Chris’ cartoon, googled the inscription on the base of Gorzymandias’ statue and spent the rest of the morning reading critiques of the Shelley poem (which I loved) and of the Watchmen graphic novel, much of which I’d forgotten. Thanks, Steve for giving me something to do while waiting for everyone to wake up.
And the Ozymandias character in the book fits Gore to a T, even though the author is ideologically left.

You probably already know this, but Ozymandias was Gore’s (unofficial) nickname at St. Alban’s.

I didn’t know, but whoever coined that nickname was a prophet.

To those who have read Watchmen, the name Ozymandias is freighted with all kinds of meaning… but I won’t spoil the upcoming movie.
