What a Load of Crap

I Can’t Believe We’re Even Discussing This

Kim du Toit claims he is all done blogging.

Who believes it?

Color me skeptical.

If he sticks it out, it will be a gigantic loss to the Internet.

I’ve been awaiting his final post all month, and then yesterday, I forgot to check! Unbelievable.

Excuse the cryptic title and subtitle. Obscure reference.

That’s sad. I was never what you would call a regular reader of Kim du Toit, but I would drop by from time to time and read his postings.

Blogging is my lifeline to sanity these days – it’s helping me through some difficult times. At this point I couldn’t imagine giving it up.

  2. Ingemar Says:

I’d quit blogging too if Barack “7 States” Obama won by a landslide, too.

  3. Randy Rager Says:

Yeah, except Kim resolved to quit blogging long before the election results were in, Ingemar, so what you’re implying doesn’t really have much for legs, now does it?

  4. Heather P. Says:

If you’ve been reading for the last little bit, he is claiming that they just can’t afford the upkeep on the sites, and that Kim is going to have to get a paying gig so they can get out of debt.
I know I will miss his “department of rightous shootings” posts the most!

If it wasn’t for Kim, my Make April 15 Buy A Gun Day never would have gotten off the ground. I was always honored to have my blog in his blogroll “Behind Enemy Lines”.

  6. Andrea Harris Says:

He planned to quit long before Obama won the presidency, Ingemar.

  7. KSgop Says:

He’ll be back. This is what…the 3rd time he’s claimed to be quitting blogging?

  8. Rick C Says:

    Ingemar, 52% to 48% isn’t a landslide.

  9. Jorge Curioso Says:

Rick, it was a whupping of serious proportions, unfortunately, especially at the electoral level, which is what counts. Too bad McCain picked a dilettante token instead of a serious politician, it might have been close.

  10. Ed Bonderenka Says:

One day, and i miss it already…

  11. Ted Says:

He’ll be missed. He was a daily read for a lot of people. For me, he educated the heck out of me.

  12. Guaman Says:

He seemed serious about quitting. The last time he went away it was sort of strange thing – when he spoke again he disclaimed black helicopters and such, but he hadn’t really threatened to quit like he has this time.

He contributed and the information will still be up for a while. It’s like Steven den Beste – written words echo for a long long time and never really lose the original power. They might become dispersed and not recognizable, but they’re out there working in those that read ’em.

  13. JPatterson Says:

I’ve been reading Kim since he started (he was on the daily list right up there with Hog on Ice). From the measure I have of the man, I would be willing to bet that he won’t be back. I think he promised some pictures of their upcoming European trip, since he allowed readers to donate to its financing, but other than that, I think he is done.

As Steve said, a gigantic loss to the internet. I have been actually grieving since I read his and Connie’s last posts. It’s like friends saying, “We’ve been friends long enough…time to go our separate ways.” I know that’s not really fair to them; just saying how it feels.

God speed to them. I hope they enjoy the next phases of their lives.

Jorge, 2/3 of Republicans thought Palin was a good choice. Someone else might have gotten a few RINOs who voted for Obama to vote for McCain but McCain would have lost many more votes due to Republicans who would have stayed home than vote for a Hubert Humphrey (social liberal who is pro-2A) running as a Republican. Palin got McCain TONS of free publicity. I picked her as the best shot for a running mate 6 months ago. Even moreso if Hillary had been on the ticket. What Palin accomplished in a few weeks is testament to her quick learning. She was orders of magnitude better than gaffe-prone media-teflonized Joe Biden. If the media wasn’t in Obama’s tank and there wasn’t the mortgage meltdown (thanks Barney Frank to pimping mortgages to those who would never qualify as social engineering), McCain plus Palin was on the upsurge.

  15. Michael Rittenhouse Says:

du Toit’s a good writer, but he lost me the last time he went off on trolls who get his goat.

There is little more boring, and dismaying, to see a writer get all bent out of shape over poo-flingin’ Web monkeys.

That’s exactly what they want, BTW. Now they’ll even be screeching as he goes.

  16. DJMoore Says:

At least Den Beste is now the best anime blogger in existence. And still occasionally posts political stuff.

I get the sense that Kim really has quit, except for the occasional vacation pics or inescapable political outrage. He’s gotten to the point where he’s said what he has to say, and is tired of repeating himself. It’s our turn now.

Hey, want to get him blogging again? Get Obama to try to shut down gun blogs. He will post every single day until they come to pull the switch on his wetware.

  17. pbird Says:

Palin is a hell of a politician Jorge. She has it all. She just couldn’t lift the lid off of the party this time. Too heavy.
