My Salute to the New Premier

Range Time

Here is my prescription for the Obama Blues. A trip to the gun range! I’ll go celebrate the second amendment, while it lasts. If Obama had appointed the last two Supreme Court justices, the Heller decision would have been much different, and we would have no federal protection against Nazi-style gun bans and confiscation. If he gets his way, that will be the situation when he leaves office.

I’m taking the K31, the SW1911, the .17 HMR, and the Kommunist Kannon with me. By “Kommunist Cannon,” am, of course, referring to my Romanian-made PSL, which is an Eastern-bloc rifle similar to the Dragunov. If Obama’s comrades had gotten their way a generation ago, we would have seen rifles like this in the hands of “liberating” Soviet forces. So I can’t think of a better weapon to take, in honor of the President-Elect.

I had problems with the PSL after I installed a new trigger group. Today I adjusted it using brute force. We will see if it works.

I dimly remember something from several months ago about Saturday being (unofficially) National Firearms Day. Kinda figure on driving out to Knob Creek Saturday morning and blowing up some plastic bottles.

I don’t think you can hold the fort of Coral Gables all on your own. Maybe you should start thinking about moving over here to Lee or Charlotte Co. You can still get a farmette here with 10 acres for well under half-a-rock.

Steve, I think you’re right, it’s the judges issue that’s the terrible thing here. We can easily recover from incompetent governing, confiscatory taxes, corruption, and such, but the incredibly corrosive effect that the court has had on the nation since 1960, almost always in opposition to popular will, is nigh impossible to overturn. Prayer in public schools? Unborn life? Traditional marriage and sexuality? All undone by courts against the people.

The Wifey was a lot more bummed out than I was. I think it’s the Palin thing. She wasn’t into politics at all till Sarah got into it. She seemed so depressed this morning that I suggested she go out shopping. For a Burkha.

Me? Business as usual. I have no plans to change anything.

Enjoy the gun range (while you still can).

The recent Supreme Court ruling is pretty thin gruel. It only says that someone may own an assembled handgun in their home in Washington D.C.

The second amendment doesn’t apply to the states because it has not been “incorporated”. So it is only a restriction on the federal government, not the states, which may impose whatever restrictions they want.

I think there is plenty of mischief in store for the U.S. from comrade Obama.

If you have a scope on the K31 Take it and the mount off and test them by throwing them as far as you can out into the nearest deep salt water. If they float, put ’em back on.

Now learn to use the sights that came on the rifle just as G-d, Schmidt and Rubin meant you to.

If I live to be a thousand, I will never understand why it is so important for some folks to put glass sights on military rifles that were never intended to have them.

If you don’t have a scope on the K31, never mind.
