Huge Line at Precinct 615
November 4th, 2008Bring a Folding Chair
My sister has been losing her mind over the prospect of an Obama Presidency, so she decided she had to be in the voting line at 6 a.m. today, and she managed to persuade me to go, too. I thought she was nuts, but by the time the polls opened at 7, there was a line down the block. Does this mean there will be lines all day, or did I just encounter a bunch of hysterics and people who can only vote before going to work? I don’t know. But here’s what I have to say.
GO VOTE, AND DO IT EARLY.
Democrats smoke a lot of dope and get up late because they don’t have jobs; we can get an edge here by making sure we make it through the lines by the time the polls close.
It was a little nauseating, listening to the white housewives in the line as they talked about how much they and their friends worshiped Obama. A lot of white people are voting for this guy just so they can brag about voting for a black person. If the country goes under the Magic Obama Bus, that’s fine. They got to feel good and grandstand a little. These are people who have no idea what capitalism is or what socialism is, or why one works and the other leads to tragedy, totalitarianism, poverty, and despair. All they know is, Obama gives them a warm fuzzy feeling, and he wants to save all the kitties and bunnies and trees.
It’s really unfortunate that women are allowed to vote. Whatever problems would arise from male-only suffrage, at least we would be safe from socialism and pacifism, and we would always be allowed to defend ourselves and our families.
It’s too bad the Republicans don’t have a great black hope, but since we have such a hard time finding decent candidates regardless of race, it isn’t surprising. The white candidates aren’t exactly inspiring, so why would anyone expect us to be able to come up with black candidates who were any better?
Obama is a sorry excuse for a candidate; for some reason, everyone on the left is mesmerized and can’t seem to perceive that he is a far-left junior Senator with no executive experience, no notable achievements, anti-Semitic ties, and anti-white leanings. They don’t see it, but it’s true. John Kerry was ten times the candidate Obama was. So was Hillary. I would say the same about Al Gore, except that I think he may be mentally ill.
It’s very odd that the left is so worked up about this guy, or at least that they think they are (in reality, the polls are fairly close). He’s like Salieri in Amadeus; a patron saint of mediocrities.
I hope all of you will vote, and that you will not forget to pray. It really, really matters. Open your Bibles and look at all the accounts of God choosing leaders. Look at all the accounts of God’s people overcoming powerful opponents by faith. The polls don’t mean anything, if God is with us.
I am glad I got this over with. Tomorrow I’ll get up and decide whether it’s time to celebrate, or time to buy weapons Obama and the Democrat-controlled Politburo will ban next year.

I find myself thinking of Futurama’s Hypnotoad, personally, but I’m not first to make the suggestion (I think I may even have picked it up elsewhere, actually).
I do hope you’re joking about the male suffrage thing. Plenty of men think he’s the best thing ever, too.

On average, women vote wrong much more than men do.

I’m planning to get to my polling place early, before I lose my will to spend an hour or more in line, surrounded by Dear Leader’s little brown suits.
And it’s raining.
I’ll raise you one on thinking most women shouldn’t be able to vote, with most women shouldn’t be able to drive. Well, they aren’t able to drive well. SO maybe I mean they shouldn’t be allowed to try.

“Obama is a sorry excuse for a candidate; for some reason, everyone on the left is mesmerized and can’t seem to perceive that he is a far-left junior Senator with no executive experience, no notable achievements, anti-Semitic ties, and anti-white leanings.”
As succinct a summary of Obama as I have seen. It’s terrifying how many people heard “HOPEY-CHANGINESS” and mistook it for actual content.
I’m off to cast my useless Republican vote in a Democrat New York, but cast it I will.

We really shouldn’t worry that much. The polls are close, which means a close popular vote.
We know two things from the last two pres elections.
1.)The popular vote is the important vote as it displays the will of the people.
b.)A narrow popular vote means that the winner does not have an automatic “Mandate.” He must bear in mind the will of the 49.6% who didn’t vote for him.
Surely a President Obama will realize this and govern with our interests in mind. Also, the telepathic space weasels will finally start beaming quality Hard-bop into my brain instead of “oldies.”

agreed. Sadly, I am of the mind that Obama is going to wipe the floor with McCain.
I respectfully disagree with Greg Z.–popular vote is a soothing balm to the losing side of a POTUS election, but Bush took this to mean that he had a mandate to hit Iraq.
So pop. vote as a braking mechanism for a POTUS bent on a particular policy? not really so much recently.

I’m in what should be a solid-red area south of Houston, and I even had to listen to that crap this morning. “Are you ready to change America?” I don’t necessarily agree that women shouldn’t vote, but I would suggest that we raise the voting age to 26+…

You know, as a 25 year-old McCain-voting woman, I’d just like to say: Steve and Billy, you’re not far off. Many, many, many of my peers are idiots. I think you should have to have held a real job for a year and paid some quantity of taxes before you’re eligible to vote.

Just got back from my polling place. Biggest line I’ve seen since…well, ever. After I was done, the sun came out. I’ll take that as a good sign.
I’m not one of those guys that hopes that if B.O. wins, the country burns to the ground just so a new Reagan will arrive and usher in a new Conservative movement. Pyrrhic victories really suck.
Win or lose…we’re all in this together.

My wife went before work. Hour and a half in line. I left woork and went at Ten A.M. Half Hour.

While I certainly agree that many women vote in favor of socialism because it “feels good,” please allow that some of us actually have brains and try to use them while voting. I voted for Obama in the primary because I assumed that by doing so I would get to vote against Hillary twice. Obama as president worries me more than any Democrat I’ve seen since Carter.

If it’s all the same to you, I prefer to issue blind blanket indictments.

We have Thomas Sowell, if we could convince him to run. And if he’s not quality, I don’t know quality. Plus he’d destroy almost anyone I can think of in a political debate.

Frederic Bastiat wrote (I paraphrase poorly) that the issue of suffrage (in general, he used beggars as a for instance) would be less pressing if government undertook fewer projects and were not such an important factor in private lives and business. I’ve wondered if this explains America getting universal women’s suffrage after several other countries.

Just voted in Miami Shores about 3:30 pm. The only person in front of me was my wife. Not a youth in sight. Easy.

It doesn’t matter what you say or how you say it, you just have to look good. The man has not said anything substantive except when he trips up. And, when that happens the Obama-loving media and his handlers come out and tell us what he really meant.
Plus, should there ever be a criticism or question raised that he and his team don’t like the immediate charge is “racism”. Talk about chilling free speech. My stepson made the mistake of wearing a small McCain/Palin button and was accused of being racist all day at school. Nice, huh?

Thomas Sowell is too intelligent to accept an appointment, let alone run for office.
Charles Barkley?

My hope is that Bobbie Jindal does great things for Louisiana the next couple of years and goes for it in 2012. He seems very smart and personable and IMO could do very well going head to head with the Messiah in a debate. Elsewhere, the republicans have got to find some new blood, ideas, and energy.

I have just two words for you: private sales. If permitted in your state and locality.
