Day 25
March 30th, 2021Unto Every One That Hath Shall be Given
Readers may want to know how things are going with the Zambian lady and me.
At some point last year, I realized that things went better for me when I did a lot of interceding, so I determined to do more of it. I interceded for people while I was driving, for example. I interceded for people in the cars and buildings around me, not just people I knew. Anyone I could think of.
“Rebecca” and I were brought together, and then we discovered it would take a long time to get together in person. We started having long prayer sessions in the morning. Now we are also having sessions later in the day. We have decided to intercede as much as we can. She likes to start video chats during the day because she misses me, and if I don’t bring intercession up, she reminds me.
I see this as an explosive development. If interceding by myself at irregular intervals opened the doors to God’s blessings, what will happen when I do it with a strong Christian, maintaining a busy and consistent schedule?
When we pray together, I thank him for making us useful. I felt frustrated that all we could do was communicate by phone, because I thought it limited what we could do. Now that we have a ministry of intercession, we are able to accomplish things in spite of the separation.
On Saturday, Rebecca told me her younger sister was in the hospital with malaria. The sister and her family live on a farm, and they hadn’t been able to charge their cell phone, so Rebecca was not able to contact them. She was very upset. She spent a fair part of the day crying. I made the mistake of trying to introduce her to someone during a video chat, and she was so embarrassed to be seen crying, she hung up and returned after getting it together.
We interceded, and I texted friends to join. On Saturday night, we heard Rebecca’s sister was recovering, and since then, things have only gotten better. We are still praying for her to recover, and also for God to help her close any doors that have opened her to attack.
We are praying for friends and relatives to become children of God. We are praying for God to form and repair marriages. We are praying for financial problems. We are praying for physical healing.
It’s wonderful to be useful.
A lot of people think they can’t serve God because they have no help, or they’re isolated, or they’re introverted, or they can’t travel, or they don’t have much money. Anyone who wants a ministry can start one instantly. Just make a point of praying for people. You don’t need a building, money, a vehicle, or anything else to get started. Just get to work.
In case anyone thinks I’m being scammed, I should add that I finally looked up Rebecca’s Instagram and Twitter accounts. I found things she wrote years ago that were completely consistent with what I know about her.
Summary: things are getting better and better. It’s a remarkable story, and it doesn’t seem to be losing steam.

I can’t think of any problem that cannot be helped with prayers. Most of the time that is all we can do. Mine always includes a God’s will be done, and if it is a medical problem, I thank God for modern medicine. He heals in many ways.
