Finally, Even-Handedness in the Middle East
June 4th, 2009We’ll Teach Those Jews
Am I the only one who is loving the ongoing outing of B. Hussein Obama? He emphasizes “Hussein” when he addresses Muslims, so I guess everyone else is entitled to do it, too. I am distressed by Obama’s hostility toward Israel and his habit of embracing Muslims who support terrorism, but I am enjoying seeing his true nature exposed.
I realize Obama is inexperienced, naive, and undistinguished, but he shocks even me when he says the Iranians should be allowed to have nuclear power, as long as they use it responsibly.
This is like putting Charles Manson on the street via work-release. “Murder one more family, and we’re going to start doubting your sincerity.”
It’s a very simple policy. Let the Iranians have fissile material, and wait to see if they nuke the Jews. If they do, consider sanctions. I’m trying to be sarcastic, but that’s very close to Obama’s actual policy.
Reagan said “Trust, but verify.” Obama says “HOPE.”
Here’s what’s behind all this. Obama’s past as a young Muslim almost surely has something to do with it, but the main problem is that Obama is not a Christian. Sure, he went to “church,” but it was a political and social organization, not a true house of God. Jeremiah Wright very clearly hates Jews and loves socialism, and he thrives by telling black people nothing that happens to them is their fault, that everything they do is justified, and that the rest of us should give them stuff. None of that comes from the Bible. It has nothing to do with faith or obedience to God. It can’t be reconciled with the Old Testament, nor can it be reconciled with the words of Jesus or the Apostles.
Obama doesn’t pray sincerely in Jesus’s name every day. He doesn’t study the Bible. He ignored the National Day of Prayer. He supports late-term convenience abortion, as well as withholding support from abortion victims who are born alive. In all likelihood, he’s an atheist. Most liberal elites are. His church attendance was probably purely cynical; an act to pacify voters. Politicians have to be married, and they have to go to church. It makes winning elections easier. You can try to tell me it’s not right to judge another person’s faith, but you would be wrong. A person’s actions can be a very reliable index of the contents of his heart. Christians are required to consider such matters. It’s not forbidden at all. By Obama’s fruit, we can know him.
If you’re not a Jew or a Christian, to you, Israel is just like any other nation. It might as well be New Guinea. And if you’re a politician, you do what politicians do. You figure out which side your bread is buttered on, and you act accordingly. Israel doesn’t sell us oil. They don’t buy a lot of our goods. They consume aid dollars. And they make a lot of other nations angry, and that anger bleeds off onto us. So cut them loose. If there is no God, it’s the sensible thing to do.
Obama also knows that he has three blocs of voters to whom anti-Israel rhetoric plays well: blacks, Hispanics, and Jews. Blacks have a heavy-duty anti-Semitism problem, Hispanics are not too far behind, and Jews are afflicted with self-hatred and a crippling desire to appease. And modern leftists tend to be anti-Semitic regardless of race. To support Israel would be an act of considerable political courage. Obama doesn’t have that in him. He’ll continue doing whatever he thinks will please the most voters.
Our support for Israel is based on three things. Judaism, the Judaism-independent Jewish fear of facing a new holocaust without a refuge (Jews want Israel to continue to exist, while paradoxically supporting its dismemberment) and Christianity. Obama probably sees our support for Israel as a sort of cultural relic. An unfortunate lingering symptom of our mass delusions. Backward Americans believe in a fictional God, and for this reason, we maintain counterproductive and untenable ideas about Middle East policy. The right thing to do–the thing Saul Alinksy would do–is to make Israel understand that it’s unimportant. Not special. Because we’ve moved past all that silly religious nonsense. From now on, we’ll support Israel in the same way we support Ecuador and Laos. It’s all about fairness, right? Like socialism.
Obama is busting his butt to make us understand that Israel is not special. He is rubbing our noses in it. His people call it “even-handedness.” If the Iranians have nukes, it’s bad, but America isn’t Israel, so we can survive a Jerusalem atom bomb blast. The Indians and Pakistanis are always on the brink of nuclear war, and we don’t do much about it. I think that’s how Obama views the Iranian threat. American Jews aren’t raising a fuss; they seem to consent to it. So that’s how it’s going to go.
Iran will get the bomb. It’s probably too late for Israel to stop them. It’s not that hard to hide things in tunnels, and the Iranians know what happened to Hussein’s above-ground nuclear site. Bush didn’t have the guts to do anything, probably because of the way Americans betrayed him over Iraq, and Obama doesn’t care. He is probably worried about the possibility of an Israeli raid, which would be “an outrageous violation of sovereignty” or some such nonsense, but he surely accepts the inevitability of an Iranian nuclear arsenal. When the first test goes off, Obama will mumble a few words about what a bummer it is, and then he’ll get back to socializing industries. And we’ll see what happens.
The Bible says nations that slice up Israel will be judged by God. We are among those nations. We are in God’s crosshairs. Not a good place to be. But the more sophisticated we perceive ourselves to be–the less we realize that God is real and that we need him–the deeper into this mess we are going to plunge.

Sad, but true. ugh.

I wonder how many voters that were hoodwinked by this deceiver even know it. At one point I thought the tide of public opinion was turning against him. Now I’m not so sure.
.
Try as I might to stave off pessimism about our future, it’s getting more and more difficult.
.
Neville Chamberlain appeased one form of anti-Semitic evil and it cost millions of lives. Obama is doing the same thing. “Peace for our time…”

A terrifying scenario – but one I fear is rather likely.
I suspect that the city of Jerusalem will be somehow essentially spared (it figures rather prominently in several as yet unfullfilled prophecies), but that Israel will get a truely severe attack.
May we be wrong.

bHo carries around a Hanuman, king of the monkeys, idol .

Jews have survived secularist and assimilationist co-religionists before. The zealot Hasmoneans prevailed over the Hellenists in the Chanukah story. There is no indication that any Jew descends from those Hellenists. Rashi comments that 4 out of 5 Jews did NOT leave Egypt during the Exodus — the ones who were committed to Egypt, then the pinnacle of civilization, more than the command of God. They were buried during the plague of darkness.

Yep, which is why the only way to survive it is to trust in Him.

Steve, I’m not a Jew, and not much of a Christian, either, so my support for Israel is based on more “worldly” and practical reasons. They’re the only functional, sane democracy in a sea of ignorant, savage tyrannies. If somehow the tables were turned and Israel was a democratic and responsible Muslim state (c’mon, humor me here) surrounded by 600 million Jews howling for their blood, I would still support her. Then again, I also believe that introducing a form of democracy to Iraq can somehow begin to lift both Sunni and Shia alike from that sea of ignorance. So I guess I’m a pragmatist and delusion dreamer at the same time.

To say that I am merely in agreement would be a gross understatement. Hardly a day passes without conversing with observant Christians of all denominations that are not only fully supportive of Israel, but are also fully aware of the the Obama’s, and other secular’s desire to see Israel’s significance be diminished, even if it means its actual destruction.
I am a Jew. I have always been proud to be a Jew. I have dedicated my life to helping my people, and non Jews as well. But I have never lost site of the fact that Israel is truly a Jewish homeland that is of significance to Jews and Christians alike. The support for Israel goes far deeper than a mere religious commitment. Israel is a bastion of democracy, the only bastion bastion of democracy in this region of the word. No kings, no ruling families, here. Free elections, equal rights for all, including Palestinians and other people of Islamic faith.
But where have my people gone? Why are they out to lunch. Why do they hold the button of self destruction so prominently for the world to see. “Guilt”, they say. I ask, what have they got to be guilty of? Why has their commitment to liberalism and secular thought cause them to lose their way? The ovens and smoke filled chimneys were not scenes out of either testament. Sometimes, I feel so disgusted being a Jew, if it was not the fact that I AM Jewish, I would consider being antisemitic myself. How can I love, and support people that don’t love themselves.
I stand alone these days. From without and within, the endless cesspool others within my faith, including those that worship regularly at my own synagogue, just can’t seem to visualize what is staring them in the eye. It’s not a matter of understanding the big picture. It’s understanding that that when a long barrel shot gun is pointed at your fact, it should not be viewed as if it is squirt gun.
Endless arguments, some very vocal with both family friends, and fellow congregants have only resulted in me alienating myself from the world I grew up in. It’s hard to stand up for what you believe in, especially when you run the risk of ending old friendships, and excommunicating yourself with those you once associated with. Jewish holidays have become dreaded “get togethers” that have caused me to find excuses for not attending.
It started a year and a half ago with Uncle Move-On, a proud member of that site representative of his very name. When upon inquiring of him why he liked Obama for president, his response was: 1. He is from Illinois. 2. He is Black. Here is a man that is Jewish by birth. He has never in his adult life felt any identification with his people, or religion period for that matter. He is extremely well educated, and was even a professor at a major university. You would think that he would have a better explanation than the foregoing one. From Uncle and Move On (both are affiliated) came the others. “Blacks have it much worse than Jews”, came the words from a fellow congregant. Such over simplistic thoughts are common place in the Jewish community. I wish I could find just one national black figure that has said, or done anything for Israel. Yes, there are the J.C Watt, and Larry Elders, but of course their own community sees them on the fringe.
I suspect my days of disgust and disillusionment will continue. Maybe Christianity is not such a bad place to be? Being affiliated with any group of people that is not only not proud of who they are, but also look for reasons to provide aide and comfort to the enemy is not very fulfilling. It’s downright heart wrenching.
June 4th, 2009 at 3:03 PM
Far be it from me to discourage a potential Christian, but I will point out two things. First, some mainstream Christian denominations (the ones that are watered down) are overtly hostile to Israel, so you have to pick and choose your Christian friends. Second, the choice should be based on what you believe.
.
If you are seriously interested in learning about Christianity, I can put you in touch with a rabbi who made the jump to messianic Judaism. I almost said “another Jew,” but my friend Aaron would probably jump in and say “Christian of Jewish birth.”
.
I don’t think they call themselves “Christians,” although that probably has more to do with their desire to remain Jews than it does with any great difference between their beliefs and those of ordinary Christians.
June 4th, 2009 at 3:29 PM
Well Steve, you make a good point. One should convert to Christianity, (or any religion for that matter) because it is something they want to do, and not because it is place to park themselves because they feel abandoned by the religion they are presently affiliated with. And oh yes indeed I am well aware that aside and apart of present day circumstances, there are many Christians in this country (or the world for that matter) that little use for Jews as well. So, I would have to be careful where I would hang my hat. I’m from Illinois, but there are parts of this state that I would be reluctant to visit sporting a T-shirt of the Star of David.
Above said, while I have many fine Christian friends, one in particular who led me to your site, and have appreciated their support for Israel, I have spend my entire life practicing my faith, and “being Jewish’, so I probably need to just hang in there in the hope that Mr. Hope himself, will do something (short of erecting ovens) that will cause Jewish to have an awakening so to speak.
Also, we have a some very fine Jewish people in the media that are committed to both conservative principles as well as Israel. Savage, Medved, Levin, and Jonah Goldberg come to my mind right away.
Lastly, if all Jews jumped ship, Israel would go down the tubes for sure. God, and American financial aide alone will not be enough. Jewish organizations thrive on raising money hear and sending it to Israel. You should visit my synagogue when they have their appeal for both the Jewish United Fund, and State of Israel Bonds just a day apart. You would be astonished at how much money is raised.
The bottom line is I have to hang in there.

I couldn’t agree more, Steve …with both the article, and your response to Mark.
.
June 4th, 2009 at 3:46 PM
Mark, throughout Jewish history, vast majorities of Jews have always assimilated themselves into oblivion, choosing the more comfortable path. To preserve Judaism and its disproportionate beneficial influence on the world. The observant Jewish community welcomed me. I need to answer more to my descendants than to my misguided peers.
.
Indeed, as our patriarch Abraham was commanded, “Lech-Lecha” (it’s the name of the third annual Torah portion) and is usually mistranslated as “Go to the place which I will show you”. “Lech”, would be the Hebrew imperative to “go”. “Lech-lecha” means “Go to yourself”.
.
Abraham’s father was an idol maker. His brothers opposed him. He went his own way. The rest is history. Painful, often sad, but the most meaningful history of a people ever from people who were given the opportunity to follow God’s command and lead instead of narcissistically building society in their own image. It’s not just “From Moses to Sandy Koufax…” There is SO much more. And it takes WORK to preserve. But I think Steve and Moxie, who had a Shabbos dinner with my family, can attest that the dividends far exceed anything that Rahm Emanuel or Ed Asner or Noam Chomsky would want to or be able to give me.
.
I have little desire to preserve “bagels and lox” Jewish culture. Judaism has been flavored differently during our numerous exiles. There is nothing especially worth preserving that isn’t in the scripture. The world changes and we need to preserve the truth despite those changes.
.
Funny… Mattisyahu’s “King without a Crown” just came on Pandora as I was finishing this comment. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KxxuSiC4wNw Lyrics: http://tinyurl.com/rafgog
.
Before you choose to leave, realize that what you’re leaving may be Jews, but they aren’t synonymous with Judaism or Judaism’s values. Let me know if you want to learn more about Judaism.

Mark, the Pope has authorized me to sweeten the deal with a set of steak knives.
.
I think you’d be a real asset. After all, Psalm 37 says “Mark, the perfect man.”
.
Sorry. Felt like I had to be competitive.
June 4th, 2009 at 5:59 PM
Mark,
.
As said in the movie ‘Braveheart’: “Your heart is free, William, don’t be afraid to follow it”.
.
I hope you find what you are looking for Mark. It is THE most important choice you make in your life. More important than career, wife or picking the ‘final four’.
.
But if you choose that which is truly correct for you, from hindsights perspective you will see that it was so simple, so obvious – how could it have been any other way?
.
…oh… and good luck. 😉

…that may be the wittiest comment you’ve ever made SteveH.

I’m just hoping that the ObaMessiah doesn’t have his ‘jump the shark’ by giving us the abomination of desolation.
.
No, I’m not one to see antichrists lurking behind every tree, or totally populating every Democratic Convention – but the party is sure leaning in that direction, and I will be looking closely at any treaties signed with Israel (items such as term length).
.
I really don’t see bHo as having the heft to be the Antichrist – he’s just a precoursor to set the table.
June 5th, 2009 at 5:28 PM
Like km said. And I believe Obama is anti-christ, not necessarily the antichrist. However, he does deny the religion of his fathers…when he’s running for office.
