Two Steps Back, One Step Forward
February 3rd, 2009“Renewal” Should Mean Something
I have been getting links from other blogs because I wrote some critical things about Pajamas Media and some of the people who are involved in it. I wrote one remark which has gotten a lot of attention; at the time I wrote it, I thought it was mild and relatively inoffensive, but re-reading it, I think it was unnecessarily harsh.
I’m taking down the posts I wrote. I’ve been trying to change my life, and I don’t want to let my faults drag me back into the pool of smoldering invective and gossip which is the political Blogosphere. I apologize to those I made fun of, not for their sake, but for my own.
There is nothing wrong with pointing out the problems with PJM, but it’s possible to do it in a more constructive way.
I also apologize for those things I wrote in the past which were really over the line.

I for one, am glad you have lowered the level of invective in your blog; however, keep at the political side of things. Your insight is particularly good and though provking. I do miss your hedonistic puruit of gastronomic excess, but I will get over it. BTW, have you lost much weight now that you don’t indulge as much? I love tool talk as I am also a tool freak who never has enough.

Steve, you shouldn’t regret saying anything you honestly meant or felt.
If you said what you meant, you shouldn’t take it down.
If however you stepped over the line of what you really felt, because you were going for the snark, or the funny, or you were just irritated that day.. OK, then maybe you shold take something down, or change it.
I personally don’t believe in doing so; I’d rather write a correction or apology etc… later.

you were more or less right on.
you didn’t like your tone? your call. but when you noted that they had rolled thru 7mm in venture capital and hadnt come up with a workable biz model, you werent wrong.

Come on. Gimme a break. It’s humor! Okay, skip the gossip then (though I have never really noticed any), but let the invective smoulder, would ya please? Cut yourself some slack. “I like tools and God” can get a little old after a while. I mean, that’s fine, but I come here for the humor. And that means once in a while ripping into those who need it. Right?
Just an opinion.
Best,
Brian

I don’t think you crossed the line, but it’s hard to go back and double check now, isn’t it?

Steve.
.
Ed’s right.
.
Besides, if you do cross the line then we will use the “Safe Word”.

Calling a spade a spade is not snark. Sometimes the truth stings. It’s a fact of life that the obtuse do not respond to gentle nudges. A 2×4 to the side of the head is what is needed. You’re fine Steve. Just make yourself a handle foe the 2×4. Easier on the hands.

I think your blog is safe from devolving into ‘Nam. Both Smokey AND Walter agree you weren’t over the line.

Was the prophet Isaiah “over the line” when he teased the priests of Baal that maybe their deity was too busy to answer their entreaties because he was on the crapper?

Nothing you wrote seemed way out of line in my book.

Sometimes we seem to be progressing in the wrong direction, Steve, when infact, it may have been a necessary detour or switchback depending on the contours of the terrain. We ALL make mistakes and do things we regret. But a little ‘Back-stitching’ can be good. In fact, it can make the weave stronger.

Keep your eye on that North Star, my friend. You’ll never be lost. 😉

Leo…You’ve been places, haven’t you?
